Composite veneers: transforming a young patient’s smile
A smile is one of the most important parts of a person’s appearance and can have a significant impact on their self-esteem and quality of life. In this post we describe the case of a patient who came to our practice with several dental challenges: crowded teeth, a crossbite and several missing teeth. Through a comprehensive approach and the use of composite veneers, we transformed her smile and improved her oral health.
Her initial diagnosis revealed three main problems:
- Crowded teeth: the crowding affected not only the look of her smile but also made proper oral hygiene difficult, increasing the risk of decay and periodontal disease.
- Crossbite: this condition is characterized by misalignment of the upper and lower teeth, which can lead to uneven tooth wear, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems and difficulty chewing.
- Several missing teeth: losing teeth, especially at a young age, can have a significant impact on chewing function and facial appearance. In our patient’s case, the missing teeth were affecting her ability to eat and to smile with confidence.
The first step in the treatment was to address the crowding and the crossbite. To do that, we started clear aligner treatment planned by Dr. Diego Peydro.
To deal with the missing teeth, we decided that the best solution for our patient was dental implants. Dental implants are a durable, esthetic solution for missing teeth.
Before going ahead with the final restorations, we carried out teeth whitening to ensure that the patient’s natural teeth had an even, bright color. That step is crucial for the best esthetic result, since composite veneers and other restorations have to match the color of the natural teeth.
