A class II malocclusion is the kind of bite in which the upper teeth sit significantly forward of the lower ones.
This kind of bite arises for various reasons: genetic factors, habits such as thumb-sucking in childhood, or disproportionate growth between the lower and the upper jaw.
Today we are showing you a case treated at the practice by Dr. Diego Peydro: that of Natalie, a middle-aged patient who wanted to improve the look of her smile and her oral health.
How did we solve this case?
During the initial assessment, Dr. Peydro carried out a scan of the patient in order to reach a precise diagnosis. That approach gave a detailed understanding of Natalie’s dental and skeletal structure, essential for planning effective, tailored treatment.
Natalie’s treatment plan involved clear aligners, known for their ability to move teeth gradually and precisely. Unlike traditional braces, aligners are transparent and removable, which makes them far more discreet and comfortable for the patient.
Dr. Peydro combined the aligners with intermaxillary elastics. Those elastics helped guide the movement of the teeth and adjust the relationship between the upper and lower jaw without the need for extractions or surgery.

Natalie’s treatment lasted less than 2 years. During that time she visited Dr. Peydro’s clinic roughly once every 3 months for adjustments and to see how she was progressing. The results were impressive: the relationship between the upper and lower teeth was corrected, achieving a functional bite and a marked improvement in appearance.
Natalie not only ended up with a more aligned, harmonious smile: she also saw an improvement in her chewing function and her pronunciation. Avoiding extractions and surgery made the process more comfortable and less traumatic, improving her experience overall.
