The Peydro Herrero method: how we resolve clinical cases

Good morning everyone. Today I am presenting the clinical case of a young patient who came to our practice because she did not like her smile. Following the Peydro Herrero method, we studied this young woman’s dental health in depth so we could give her a healthy, beautiful smile.

Once we had studied her case at our dental practice in Valencia, we saw the following:

  • The back sections of the patient’s mouth were very compressed.
  • Her buccal corridors were very pronounced.
  • The patient’s gummy smile meant she showed a lot of gum, something we had to correct
  • Her upper incisors played too prominent a role.

In order to solve the problems we have set out, we planned the case following the Peydro Herrero method. The plan for the case included the following:

  1. The first thing we had to solve was the health problem the patient had in her gums. To do that we carried out gum treatment that cleared the gum inflammation.
  2. Once the gum problem was solved, we planned orthodontic treatment to correct the negative angulation of the back sections. The aim was to achieve the correct angulation of the teeth so they would look healthy and beautiful and fill out the whole mouth.
  3. Once the orthodontic treatment was finished we began the esthetic dentistry phase. First we carried out teeth whitening. Then we fitted composite veneers on the lateral incisors to bring their size into line with that of the central incisors.
