Today we are presenting the case of an 85-year-old patient who came to Clínica Peydro as an emergency because, while eating, he had fractured his upper right lateral incisor. After studying his case, his problem was quickly solved, in just a few hours, with a same-day implant.
During the study an X-ray was taken, which showed that this was a tooth with a short root that had had nerve treatment in the past and been restored with a crown. The patient arrived with the crown in his hand and part of the fractured tooth still inside it.

Same-day implant treatment
After analyzing his case in detail, Dr. Marta Peydro drew up a treatment plan with a same-day implant. That meant removing the root and placing the dental implant at the same time.
We also decided to reuse the crown from his fractured tooth for the immediate loading, so that the patient’s esthetic problem was solved from the very first moment.
It was an appointment in which we used local anesthetic and made no incision: we removed the root atraumatically, without damaging bone or gum, so we were able to place the dental implant in the right position in the same socket as his natural tooth.
Once the position of the implant had been checked on an X-ray, we screwed in the abutment that acts as an artificial stump and temporarily cemented onto it the crown from his natural tooth. The procedure lasted 20 minutes, with no bleeding and no stitches, completely atraumatic and with maximum comfort for the elderly patient.
Remember that if you suffer dental trauma you should come in as soon as possible so that we can find the simplest possible treatment plan. The more time goes by, the more complex the treatment plan will be and, with it, the cost.
