Today we are presenting the case of a patient who came to Clínica Peydro to improve how her smile looked and worked.
After putting herself in the hands of our Dr. Diego Peydro and Dr. Marta Peydro, they detected that:
- She had severe crowding that had been getting worse over time and was causing chronic gum inflammation, since she could not clean her teeth properly
- She had a baby canine in the upper left section

Treatment plan
After studying her case meticulously, the doctors decided on a treatment plan consisting of:
- Cleaning the teeth and gums to reduce inflammation and remove the build-up of bacteria
- Treatment with clear aligners. This would align the teeth correctly and create the right space for the permanent canine, which had to be replaced with an implant. When someone has a baby canine that needs replacing with an implant, it is very important to finish the orthodontic treatment first so that the implant can be placed in the right spot.
- Carrying out a gingivoplasty and placing the same-day implant in the same session. That way, in a single procedure, we solved both the excess gum and the missing tooth.
- After placing the implant, within four hours we attached the temporary crown to it, which helps maintain the shape of the gum for the final porcelain crown.
By completing these four steps we achieved a radical change in the patient’s smile, solving:
- The problem with the position of the teeth
- Improving the health of the gums, since cleaning is far easier once the crowding is corrected
- Keeping the position of the teeth stable by placing implants where a tooth is missing
- Correcting the excess gum, evening out the gum margin and achieving a fresh, healthy, youthful smile
