Today we are presenting the case of a patient who came to Clínica Peydro after several years of wearing removable dentures.
She is a patient with a young spirit who enjoys life and has an active social life. After several years of wearing a removable denture, she decided to come to our clinic for information about same-day implants, because of the advantages they have over removable dentures.
TREATMENT:
Dental implants, porcelain crowns
DURATION:
A few months

The same-day implant treatment plan
After diagnosing her case with X-rays and an intraoral scan, we determined that we could make her dream come true with an implant rehabilitation in both the upper and the lower jaw.
The treatment plan also included fixed teeth from the day of surgery, so the rehabilitation was organized so that she could stop wearing her removable dentures straight away and live comfortably.
The implants were placed over 2 appointments. At the first we placed the implants in the upper arch. The surgery and taking the measurements lasted an hour and a half and was done in the morning. In the afternoon the patient came back to have the fixed teeth for the upper arch fitted.
Fifteen days later we placed the implants in the lower arch following the same process: the surgery and measurements in the morning, and fitting the fixed teeth in the afternoon.
After the surgery
After the surgery, and from day one, the patient has been able to follow a Mediterranean diet. Several days later she came in for a check-up so we could adjust the way her new teeth bite and assess their size and shape and how she spoke with them, so that we could start shaping the final porcelain rehabilitation.
Four months after the surgery we started taking the measurements and carrying out the try-ins for the final rehabilitation, choosing the color of the porcelain according to the patient’s preferences and the shape and size according to her face and lips.
With this rehabilitation we have met both the functional and the esthetic goals the patient wanted. On top of that, by placing implants and doing away with removable dentures, the bone stops being lost, since it once again has “something to hold on to” (the implants) and we remove the pressure that removable dentures put on the jawbones which, together with the loss of the natural teeth, encourages bone loss.

Replacing conventional removable dentures with implants has a real impact on patients’ quality of life in these cases: they forget about their teeth entirely, since rehabilitation with fixed teeth is the closest thing there is to having natural teeth.
If you would also like a smile that looks good and works well and lets you live an entirely normal life, you can book a free first assessment appointment.
