We interview Dr. Alejandra Olmo, our esthetic medicine specialist
Dr. Alejandra is a specialist in esthetic medicine, a graduate in Medicine from the Universitat de València, and holds a master’s degree in Esthetic Medicine from the Universitat de València.
She also holds a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery, awarded Cum Laude by the Universitat de València.
Dr. Olmo has a long track record in both esthetic medicine and surgery. Alejandra is passionate about the medicine of beauty and, as she puts it herself, “at the end of the day, esthetic medicine is about treating beauty”.
Dr. Marta Peydro, a specialist in dental implants in Valencia, joined us for this interview.
Our philosophy at Clínica Peydro is to give your smile and your skin what they really need, which is why we believe treatments should have natural, elegant results.

Interview
-Marta Peydro: Esthetic medicine treatments are not only about fillers. What else can be done?
-Alejandra Olmo: That’s right. Esthetic medicine can treat sun spots and acne scars, prevent wrinkles from appearing or reduce the ones we already have. Patients at the practice can choose hyaluronic acid fillers, which we use to add volume, project features and hydrate, or Botox, usually used to smooth dynamic wrinkles. We also offer mesotherapy and chemical peels to give the face a younger appearance.
MP: What does facial mesotherapy involve?
AO: They are micro-injections. With very fine needles we inject vitamin complexes or hyaluronic acid into the patient’s face and décolletage to improve the quality of their skin. We usually recommend that patients have 3 sessions, one every two weeks
With mesotherapy we stimulate our cells, which increases the collagen and elastin in our skin.
MP: In dentistry we know about platelet-rich plasma. In esthetic medicine, what does that treatment involve?
AO: We take blood from the patient, put it in a centrifuge and separate out the plasma. The plasma is what we inject back into the patient, and it is very useful for facial treatments, for the décolletage and for the hands. It is a way of nourishing our skin with our own plasma.
MP: And what is hyaluronic acid?
AO: It is a substance we all have in our bodies, but which we lose over the years, so the face loses volume, glow and firmness. With hyaluronic acid injections we can treat various areas: the lips, the chin, the cheekbones, marionette lines, the nasolabial fold, under-eye hollows…

MP: Some orthodontic patients with a retruded lower jaw have a small chin. Is it possible to give the jawline more presence with hyaluronic acid, without going into surgery?
AO: It is. We stretch out the jawline area, which improves the whole appearance of the chin. Sometimes it can be combined with a Botox treatment as well.
MP: Tell us a little about Botox
AO: It is used mainly for dynamic wrinkles, the ones that appear from our social life, because we frown, because we smile, because we gesture. The areas most often treated with it are the forehead, between the eyebrows, crow’s feet and the smile line.
Alejandra closes the interview with this message: “Thank you so much to the Peydro siblings for opening the doors of your practice to me. I am thrilled and really looking forward to meeting your patients, starting treatments and helping to refine the work you do at Clínica Peydro even further”.
