A single same-day implant after a fractured upper central incisor
Today we are presenting the case of a middle-aged patient who decided to replace one of her upper central incisors with a single same-day implant.
This patient had been treated since childhood for trauma to her incisors. At the time, both central incisors had nerve treatment and two crowns. Over the years, however, the upper right central incisor deteriorated, so the patient decided to come to Clínica Peydro looking for a solution.
At the appointment, Dr. Marta Peydro found that the patient had a fractured crown and a root that could not be restored. The left central incisor, on the other hand, could be saved, so the doctor decided on a multidisciplinary treatment plan to meet the patient’s objectives.
TREATMENT:
Dental implants, teeth whitening
DURATION:
4 months

The treatment plan drawn up by Dr. Marta Peydro
After analyzing her case carefully, the doctor decided to remove the damaged root and place a single same-day implant with a temporary crown to restore the appearance and shape of the gum.
In the same procedure we carried out a gum graft over the two central incisors to improve the quality of the tissue and achieve long-term stability for the restorations.
Once that was done, root canal treatment was repeated on the left central incisor, cleaning old material out of the root to remove any possible bacteria.
During the 4 months while the implant integrated, we carried out teeth whitening so as to prepare the color of the remaining teeth for the final porcelain crowns.
Finally, we fitted the final porcelain restorations on the central incisors, in a size better proportioned to the rest of the teeth than the ones the patient originally had.
Thanks to this multidisciplinary treatment plan we have not only replaced the damaged tooth but also improved the proportions of the teeth with the new porcelain crowns, while correcting the gummy smile.
The final result, as you can see in the photographs, has been spectacular. We have restored the look of her smile by treating the gums, placing an implant in the right central incisor, saving the natural left tooth and fitting two porcelain crowns.
