Good morning everyone. Today I am bringing you a spectacular case whose results jump out at you the moment you see them. But let me get to the point. Today I am presenting the case of a young patient who came to our clinic because his teeth were in an abnormal position. He was born without his lateral incisors, something we know by the medical name of agenesis. Dental agenesis is a disorder of tooth eruption in which the permanent teeth have never formed.

In this case, the patient lost his baby lateral incisors and the permanent ones never came through. As a result, all the teeth have drifted and are out of position. In this patient, and in others with similar cases, there is also a very characteristic feature I would like to explain. With the canines sitting where the lateral incisors should be, the smile looks very sharp. These patients usually still have remnants of baby teeth (as happens in this case). The baby canines stay in the mouth because the permanent ones erupted out of position (further forward) without pushing the baby teeth out.

The treatment carried out on this patient had several stages:

Clear aligner treatment to put all his teeth in the right position. In this case we decided to leave the canines in the position of the lateral incisors so as to preserve the volume of gum and bone.
Placing same-day dental implants in the position of the canines. That way we gave the patient the right number of teeth.
Composite veneers. By fitting veneers we turned the canines into lateral incisors, giving them the right shape for their position in the mouth: smaller, less sharp and more in keeping with the shape of his central incisors.
Teeth whitening.
