Treated with the Invisalign technique
The patient came to the practice wanting to improve the appearance of her smile. Beyond appearance, she had a complaint: she noticed a lot of bleeding from her gums, and had even reached the point of sometimes feeling pain in the jaw joint.

When the doctor looked at the case he carried out a detailed work-up and saw that she had a very severe malocclusion, which clinically and technically we call a Class II malocclusion. In her case this Class II malocclusion came with very narrow arches, which in turn produced a very narrow smile.

- Planning the rotational movements
Any malocclusion can be treated with clear aligners.
The patient had previously asked other practices for an assessment and had been told that hers was a difficult case to treat with clear aligners, so she had ruled clear aligners out. When she came to Clínica Peydro and we designed a treatment plan with clear aligners, she left genuinely excited, because we explained that we could treat her case perfectly well with aligners and with a high chance of success. As we always say, success depends on the planning beforehand and on the doctor’s expertise, in this case Dr. Diego Peydro’s. Any malocclusion can be treated with clear aligners if the doctor in question has a command of the technique.

The process starts with a thorough work-up of the case, in which we take a CBCT scan, intraoral and extraoral photographs and a panoramic X-ray in order to plan the case. Once the planning was done we decided to treat the case with orthodontics, specifically with Invisalign aligners. The case lasted roughly 2 years, over which we managed to take her Class II malocclusion to a perfectly stable Class I (the ideal bite), and we also widened the arches into a more parabolic, symmetrical shape, which gave the patient a broad smile in balance with her features.
On top of that, balancing the arches meant her jaw joint discomfort gradually eased, and with her mouth and teeth better aligned her brushing technique improved and with it her oral hygiene and the health of her gums.

After the orthodontic treatment we moved into the esthetic dentistry phase, with a reconstruction of the incisors and whitening from Dr. Marta Peydro’s whitening unit.
As you can see, the patient finishes treatment with a completely broad, straight new smile design.
